Moving Home?

Visited old flat yesterday, it is available to let. Sadly the interesting wild garden has been replaced by a sterile-looking lawn, and the hedge by a dead fence.

There is a saying "Gardens do not survive their owners"... This is good to remember when you're wondering whether or not to dig up the herbs and take them with you.

Garden Shrines

The "Hinduisation of America" article says
Indians have made the land of the Americas ritually sacred in at least four ways: composing songs and pious Sanskrit prayers extolling the American state where the temples are located; identifying America as a specific dvipa or island as noted in the Hindu Puranas; physically consecrating the land with waters from sacred Indian and American rivers; and literally recreating the physical landscape of certain holy places in India, as in Pittsburgh or Barsana Dham, Texas.

In "recreating the physical landscape" of holy places, perhaps we can develop a sadhana around gardening, creating mini-groves with flowers and shrubs. The garden shed could be like our kutir in the forest...
